Strange Love

“The moon is looking so beautiful tonight.” She said while pointing towards the sky with her thin fingers, as the clouds dispersed giving way for the moonlight to caress her skin.

“You know they say on these full moon nights werewolves come out of hiding.” He replied while picturing her in his eyes and kissed her pale cheeks.

“What if you’re a werewolf? Would you eat me as well?” She said in her feeble voice as her eyes twinkled with mischievousness.

Rahul smiled as he saw Pinaz curl up next to him. She closed her eyes, and dug her face into his chest. She let out a silent prayer as she thanked god for Rahul.

“You love werewolves, right? You were talking about them yesterday, about some movie, twii.. twii..”

“Twilight." She immediately spoke and giggled as he struggled with the name.

“You sound so cute when you stammer; I love you when you do it.” She said and kissed his lips.

He remembered meeting her sister 3 months ago, when she told him about Pinaz’s fondness for guys who stammer. It took him three days to practice and make his stammering look natural. He was glad that Pinaz never found out that it’s fake, as she always kissed him whenever he stammered.

He loved the taste of her lips; the way her tongue danced with his whenever they kissed was something he had never experienced with any other girl. He was afraid that he might end up missing her.

“You have never watched twilight, right?” She asked, and he blinked.

“Promise me you’ll, as soon as possible.”

He smiled and replied in affirmative.

"Rahul will you miss me when i'll leave.", Pinaz said as she wiped tears rolling down her cheek and cuddled up with Rahul.

"Yes, I will.", he whispered into her ears, but was confused if that was a lie.

The clock ticked 10, he had to leave in few moments. However, he decided to leave only after putting Pinaz to sleep. He looked towards the door, Rukshin, Pinaz’s sister was staring at him with tears in her eyes.

“Is she asleep?” She asked as soon as Rahul came out of the room.

“Yes.” he said while slowly closing the door behind him.

Rukshin hugged Rahul and continued sobbing; it had been a regular event, and Rahul knew all he could do was give her a shoulder to cry on. Rukshin used to tell him about their life few years ago, before Pinaz’s dad ran away with some other woman leaving them behind. Since then their mother took care of them, while working full time in a reputed bank.

As soon as Rahul reached home a weird feeling took over him, it was something unusual. He had never missed any of his previous women; therefore, he couldn’t understand why he was missing Pinaz so much. He ordered a pizza, and switched on the TV. Luckily, a football match was being telecasted that night, it was enough to divert his mind from Pinaz. He slept while watching the match.

“Rahul, Rukshin here.” He received the call and looked at his watch, it showed half past eight. He slept with his tv switched on, he got up to switch it off as the early morning sun rays lit up his bedroom.

“It’s over; I will send you the money by the evening. Mom has thanked you for what all you did for Pinaz.” Rukshin continued and cut the call without even waiting for his reply.

For the first time he wasn’t in the condition to reply, he noticed a drop of tear trickling down his left cheek. He couldn’t understand why he was upset. Suddenly, his phone rang, again.

“Hey Rahul good morning, good work there. Rukshin just called me up, she’ll transfer the money in the bank account by evening. By the way, I have something for you.” It was Ajay, Rahul’s boss, on the call as Rahul switched on his fax machine. Ajay had sent him a fax.

Rucha Kadam, age 23 yrs. Blood cancer patient, has 2-3 months to live.

Last wish: To watch her favourite movie ‘Before Sunrise’ with her boyfriend, and kiss someone she loves under the moonlight.

Meeting place: Barista MG Road. She'll be there with her aunt.

“Her last wish…”

“Ya it’s pretty lame. All these girls get mushier when they’re dying.” Ajay said while laughing.

“It is kind of similar to Pinaz’s.” Rahul finished his sentence.

“Yup, these girls I tell you. However, it’s an advantage for us; you don’t have to put in much effort. Moreover, her dad is a big shot and we’re getting a huge amount of money this time. Our ‘Lover on Rent’ is becoming a big hit.” Ajay said with a sense of celebration in his voice.

Rahul too smiled. He knew that their hard work is finally paying off.

“Hey Ajay, I want to ask something.” Rahul said.

“Yes brother go ahead.”

“Can I borrow your Twilight’s dvd for a day.”

When they'll be together...

And as she looked towards the sky
A star shone brightly
“Hey star why do you look so happy tonight?”
She asked

“Hey green eyed girl, today I’m a
messenger for someone.”, it said.
For whom?
“There’s a guy who loves you,
He wanted me to give you this.”

On a pale piece of paper, with the blood red ink
Were a few alphabets trying to string a song of his emotions

As the star went back to its twinkling form,
And the dark clouds hid moon behind them,
A drop fell on the paper, which she held in her hands.

As it started raining, she closed her window and smiled,
She loved the the rains, and the coziness they bought
She missed him, and wished for that day,
When she’ll be with him, in his arms.

Hey babe, he wrote
It’s another sleepless night without you
It’s another night when all my thoughts will be about you

I see the moon from my window tonight,
I hope it whispers in your sleep tonight,
That how much I long for you.

“It’s cloudy here.” She whispered
while reading the letter and longing
for the day
when they'll be together.

There he was across the sea,
Sitting by his window sill, nursing his injuries
And few of his insecurities & fears, while missing her.

He had a cup of coffee in his hands,
And the notepad on his lap.
He was scribbling something,
Thinking about one more way to make her
Feel special.

While just like her,
waiting for the day
When they’ll be together.

Pagal tha woh....

“Shaadi karogi mujhse, Riya.”
Par…
“haan ya na?”
Haan Raj.
Woh thodi sharmayi
Aur fir apni nazre jhukayi
Tapakte hue aansuon ke saath
uske seene mein khud ko chupa gayi.

“Par tumhare pitaji nahin manenge,
Humari shaadi kaise hogi Raj?”
Ye baat toh hai Riya,
Waise tum kaho toh bhaag chalein aaj?

Uss sham ki train se nikal pade the dono,
Sapno ke sheher Mumbai ko.
Riya chahti thi Mumbai jaana,
Aur fir usse bhi toh tha Raj ka ho jaana.

Raj ki naukri lagi thi Mumbai mein,
Writer tha bahut bada,
Ghar waale chahte the kuch aur
Par Raj ko banana tha apna daur, aur fir
Bandishon mein jeena toh usse kabhi raas na aaya tha.
Riya ne hi toh usse ek azaad panchi
Ki tarah udna sikhaya tha.

Toh ud chale who dono,
Ek naye aasmaan ki oor
Ab naa bandhe thi unhe koi door
Khushiyon ka jo saath tha..

“Ab kya karenge hum?”, Riya boli train se utar kar
Chinta mat karo, dost ne apna flat de diya hai
Lekin tum ye baat batao, kya shaadi karein abhi chal kar

“Abhi?”
Haan Riya, ab aur nahin ruk sakta main
Kismat ke aage aur nahin jhuk sakta main.

Riya ne fir haan mein sir hilaya tha,
Uss raat unka bistar phoolon se unke
Kuch khaas doston ne sajaya tha.

“Kaash main khana bana paati,
Toh tumhe hamesha kitchen mein na paati”, Riya boli
Raj bas muskura diya,
Kahan jaanti thi woh pagli riya,
Ki Raj ne bhagne se pehle 1 hafte tak,
Apni maa se roz subah shaam khana bana na seekha tha.

Aur issi tarah roz shaam ek
Nayi bandish le kar aati thi
Par riya hamesha khud ko
Raj sang paati thi.

Pata tha usse ki Raj jitna
Usse koi nahin chahta,
Par sochti thi ki kaash,
Raj bhi usse utna hi pyaar pa pata.

Aur fir ek din …

“Kya hua Abhi? Aage kya hua?”, dost ne mujhse poocha
Ab kya batata usse apne sabse achche dost, Raj, ke baare mein,
Jo kuch bol paun kam hai usse pyaar ke baare mein,
Jo aaj bhi inn aankhon mein aansu de jaata hai
Jab raj bhaagne se 1 hafte kya hua tha woh batata hai.

“Raj aaj se main tumse nahin mil sakti.”
Par kyun Riya.
“Raj, koi matlab hi nahin ab.”
Riya…
“Raj tum koi aur dhoondhlo,
Ab main tumhari nahin.”
Riya aisa kyun bol rahi ho…
“Ab Riya tumhare sang nahin jee sakti,
Woh kisi aur ki ho chuki hai.”
Kiski… (raj bola apne aansuon ko rokte hue)
“Cancer ki”

P.S. Before you say anything, i'm sorry. I know it's my weakest work ever but it's something i wanted to tell.

Kaash..

Chala jaunga duur aaj ke din,
aur dekhte rehna tum aas lagaye
ki kabhi toh lautunga main.
Kabhi, hah,
Kabhi toh laut aate tum bhi kaash...

Ab dekh kya rahe ho,
Apne unn ruke hue kadmo ko badhao,
Ab soch kya rahe ho,
Aaj zaroorat nahin tumhari
Kuch duur aur chale jaao…

Ab toh tumhari uss khusbu se bhi
Chid hai mujhe.
Jo kabhi harr waqt majboor karti thi,
Chahne ko tujhe….

Ab toh bas chale hi jao,
Aur tod inn zanjeeron ko mujhe chod hi jao.
Aaj main kuch duur chalke damm todh dunga,
Khair ek baat ki khushi rahegi,
ki aaj aakhir tumhara saath chod dunga.

Aakhir tumhara saath chod dunga…
.
.
Kaash, laut aate tum.
Kaash…

(And one day she’ll go away from you, like a lost traveller who mistakenly thought you’re the destination. She’ll never look back as she travels towards the new one.

Little does she know that the land she has left behind still has her footprints intact, her memories still linger around in all the corners.

Then one day you’ll decide to move on realizing how foolish you were. You’ll be angry on yourself this time for falling for a person who never cared about you.

But while moving on you’ll realize that you’ll never be able to move on from her memories. You’ll never…)

Like I miss you right now, like I love you right now ...

Somewhere in the corner of my heart,
You’ve settled down
Like your voice which always echoes
In my ears
Like your memories that always keep
Covering my other thoughts
Like those moments with you
Which have covered all my sadness
Like a happiness, which is as beautiful
As your eyes
Which are as beautiful as your voice
Whenever you call my name
Which sounds so soothing in your
Unique accent
Which reminds me of a land far away
where I go every night in my dreams
with you,
while you’re troubling me in my sleep
just the way
you trouble me all the time, making me
long for you
Like I miss you right now, like I love you right now...
